about Julia

I’m Julia - wife, mother of two, oldest sister, west-coaster-turned-east-coaster-turned-west-coaster, and pursuer of goodness, truth, & beauty. I love quiet mornings, big families, dinner parties, and last-minute plans.
After nearly nine years in Boston, my husband and I moved our family back home to the San Francisco Bay Area this last year. My golden state roots definitely influence my photography style: I love that classic golden light, the rolling hills and evergreens, and I seek to capture images that feel elegant, colorful, and timeless.

I began my photography career as a sports photographer and moved into portraits & weddings five years ago. My style is documentary, natural-light and true-to-tone; I prefer to capture an event as it unfolds, but will step in to proactively frame a shot, organize group photos, and will help coach you during portraits. When photographing a wedding, I hope that you and your spouse can feel fully present all day and not preoccupied with the camera. I firmly believe that a wedding isn't a photoshoot.
My love of photographing weddings comes from my love of my Catholic faith. I wouldn’t still be doing this if I didn’t truly believe in the truth & magnitude of the covenant of marriage. And now that I'm a mother, family photos hold a renewed importance in my heart!
I value authentic connection with my clients, and take a limited number of sessions each year so I can give you as much of my time and energy as possible. I’d love to get to know you - so once you fill out the inquiry form, I’ll reach out to set up a time to chat.
