Cole & Mikayla's spring wedding took place at the Forager event space in downtown San Jose, a few minutes from where we all grew up. It reminded me of the diversity of San Jose - a stylish, modern, industrial warehouse venue in the middle of a bustling old downtown. The couple had their first look at Redwood Grove in Los Altos, a nod to their love for California & the Santa Cruz Mountains.
These two squeaked in a 100-person reception on March 14th (literally the day before California went into shelter-in-place) and somehow, the last-minute-shortened guest list and completely abnormal California thunderstorms didn't faze them. The bride & groom have known each other since childhood, and after dating long distance for nearly five years, they just couldn't wait to be married!
I feel like there's nothing better than watching two of your best friends get married... especially when you've been friends long enough to remember when they started crushing on each other in high school! Cole & Mikayla are one of my favorite couples, ever. Their laughter is infectious, they can make anything feel like an adventure, and their love for Christ & for each other is so tangible. It was such an honor to photograph their wedding, to photograph it with a good friend, and to be trusted to photograph it at all!
I also had the privilege of shooting alongside the super talented Milan Loiacono, one of my and Mikayla's closest friends from high school.
